On the earthquake in Myanmar
29.03.2025On March 28, 2025 at about 13:20 (local time) a large-scale earthquake has been registered in Myanmar with epicenter in the area of Mandalay city. The tremors were felt in neighboring countries: Bangladesh, Vietnam, China, Laos, India and Thailand.
A state of emergency has been declared in the regions of Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, the north-eastern part of Shan State and Naypyidaw District.
A state of emergency has also been declared in the Thai capital Bangkok, where at least 10 people died and hundreds were reported missing.
Authorities are carrying out urgent large-scale search and rescue operations, disaster response measures.
Condolences have been sent by President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko to Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing and the entire Myanmar people. “In this difficult hour, our thoughts remain with the leadership and all the people of Myanmar,” said the Belarusian leader.
The Belarusian head of state has given a number of instructions to organize all necessary assistance to the affected party.
