Scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in the field of education

Cooperation in the field of science and technology is carried out on the basis of the intergovernmental Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation as of June 5, 1995.

The cooperation between the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Vietnamese partners is based on a number of agreements in various areas of scientific and technical cooperation.

In 2012, a joint center of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was created to develop and master in production technologies in the field of instrumentation and mechanical engineering, energy and chemical products.

A Belarusian branch of the Belarusian-Vietnamese Center for promotion of scientific and technical cooperation functions on the premises of the Technopark BNTU “Polytechnic”.

A Joint Belarusian-Vietnamese Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation was created. The 11th Session of the Commission was held in Hanoi on September 25, 2019. The parties signed a Protocol on assessment of implementation of the ongoing projects and the prospects for cooperation after 2020.

In March 2021, a list of the joint Belarusian-Vietnamese projects in the field of scientific and technical cooperation for implementation in 2021-2022 was signed between the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In October 2021, the Chairman of the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences and Technology was awarded the medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus «For Achievements in Science».

In November 2021, a decision was made to establish a joint Belarusian-Vietnamese Research Center for the study of electrochemical processes at the premises of BSU.

On April 12, 2022, a round table was held in Hanoi at the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences and Technology on the issues of scientific cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam. The event was attended by a delegation of heads of Belarusian scientific and practical institutes and institutions of higher education. As a result, a number of agreements were concluded on the implementation of specific scientific and scientific-technical projects.

On April 20, 2022, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician Vladimir Gusakov held negotiations via videoconference with the President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology Chau Van Minh.

The core document that regulates cooperation in the sphere of education is the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on cooperation in the field of education dated November 29, 2011.

As part of the Education Days of the Republic of Belarus, held in Hanoi on June 15-16, 2023, an updated Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on cooperation in the field of education. More than a dozen cooperation agreements were also signed between universities of Belarus and Vietnam.

Since 1962 more than 1,500 specialists, 152 candidates of sciences, 3 doctors of sciences have been trained in Belarusian higher educational institutions for Vietnam. 155 Vietnamese citizens graduated from technical schools, more than 1,800 — from vocational schools in Belarus.
