Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou participates in a literature meeting on the works of Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich in Hanoi

On May 15, 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou together with representatives of Vietnamese government agencies, academic and cultural community, diplomatic corps, and compatriots took part in a literature meeting dedicated to the legacy of Belarusian playwright, poet, and educator Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich, timed to the 180th anniversary of the comedy “Idyll” and the 160th anniversary of the play “The Pinsk Nobility.”

In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador noted Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich’s significant contribution to the development of the Belarusian literary language, theater, and drama. He drew the attention of the numerous guests to uniqueness of his work, thanks to which the Belarusian language was recognized as a literary language.

At the Publishing House of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, a screening of an excerpt from the Brest Puppet Theater’s production of “The Pinsk Nobility” (translated into Vietnamese) took place, along with tasting of Belarusian cuisine.

The literature meeting was part of a series of events aimed at promoting Belarusian culture, history, traditions, and language in Vietnam.

The event received extensive coverage in the Vietnamese media.
