Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou meets the first Vietnamese astronaut Pham Tuan
17.09.2024On September 17, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou met with Vietnam's first astronaut, Air Force Lieutenant General Pham Tuan. The meeting was held at the Museum of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Vietnam with the participation of the Museum's management.
The Lieutenant General personally guided the Ambassador through the halls of the Museum, the exposition of which testifies to the heroism and feat of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence. A separate space is dedicated to the Intercosmos space program, in which Pham Tuan took part as a research astronaut in 1980.
In a solemn atmosphere, the Ambassador handed the Vietnamese cosmonaut a photograph of the first cosmonaut of the Republic of Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya with a personal commemorative note.
Uladzimir Baravikou noted the importance of space flights for successful development of the states, expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of new technologies. The Ambassador drew attention to the unifying nature of space programs and invited Pham Tuan to pay a visit to Belarus. Voiced were words of support and sympathy to the Vietnamese people in connection with the tragic consequences of typhoon “Yagi”.
In turn, the Vietnamese astronaut expressed gratitude to our Republic for the assistance rendered during the war for freedom and independence of Vietnam, wished success and prosperity to Belarus and its people.
