Team of the Consulate General of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City wins in the culinary contest «Diplomats Can Cook – 2023»

On October 28, 2023, the Consul General of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City, Ruslan Varankou, earned the «Master Chef-2023» title allowing the team of the Consulate General to win the culinary contest «Diplomats Can Cook – 2023». A unique case in the history of the competition is the victory of the team that took part in it for the first time.

The prize was presented by Vũ Thị Bích Ngọc, wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and Nguyễn Minh Hằng, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

The event was organised for the fifth time by the Service Company to Foreign Missions FOSCO with the aim of promoting the humanitarian agenda in international relations and strengthening ties between consular offices and foreign affairs structures of Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces of Vietnam.

This year, 21 teams of consulates general in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as foreign affairs departments of southern provinces of Vietnam and the FOSCO company took part in the contest. The jury included famous chefs from Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the overall victory in the contest, the team of Consulate General employees and members of their families also won the «Best Decoration» prize.

The jury was presented with canapés with Belarusian lard and pickles on homemade rye bread, potato pancakes with creamy mushroom sauce and sour cream, baked apples stuffed with honey, walnuts and raisins, as well as homemade bread kvass. Belarusian delicacies were decorated with national character, and the Consulate General team was decorated in the same style using the Belarusian state symbols.

Participation and victory in the contest allowed to demonstrate the uniqueness of the Belarusian cuisine, as well as to attract interest to the Belarusian gastronomic tradition.
