Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou meets members of the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Society

On August 7, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou held a meeting with members of the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Society.

The event was attended by the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son, members and the Chairman of the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Society Nguyen Tuan Phong, former graduates of Belarusian universities, Vietnamese citizens who lived and worked in Belarus, the Embassy staff.

In his speech, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou honored the memory of the former Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, who made a great personal contribution to the strengthening of the Belarusian-Vietnamese relations. He expressed confidence in continuing the course set for the dynamic development of the Vietnamese state under the leadership of the President and Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam.

In the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Vietnamese army at Dien Bien Phu, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of preserving the historical memory and truth about the heroism of the Belarusian and Vietnamese peoples who selflessly defended the right to freedom and independence.

The Ambassador noted the intensification of Belarusian-Vietnamese interaction, also the resumption of the highest-level contacts, as well as the promotion of “people's” diplomacy.

In a brief talk with Mr. Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations discussed were near-term plans for cooperation. The Ambassador confirmed readiness for implementation of new mutually beneficial projects, also with the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Society.

The photo exhibition “Belarus Invincible” timed to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation was unfolded on the margins of the event. The presented materials aroused genuine interest of the Vietnamese friends.
