Ambassador Ulazimir Baravikou participates in activities marking the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War
22.06.2026On June 22, 2026, on the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou together with staff members of the diplomatic mission, the head and diplomats of the Russian Embassy, as well as representatives of Vietnamese organizations and other people paid tribute to the memory of the millions of Soviet citizens who perished during the war , by laying flowers and observing a minute of silence.
In his statement, the Belarusian Ambassador highlighted the courage and heroism of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, the feat of partisans and underground fighters, and recalled the tragedy of Khatyn. He emphasized the importance of preserving memory and preventing distortion of the truth about the war and the decisive contribution of the Soviet people to the overall victory over fascism.
Documentaries produced by Belarusfilm studio “They Stood to the Death” and “I Am the Fortress, I Am Fighting” were screened for the audience.
In memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people, the diplomatic mission’s staff joined the nationwide minute of silence.
