Belarus and Cambodia mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations

25.01.2025

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Cambodia on 25 January 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov sent a congratulatory letter to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia Prak Sokhon.

The strong ties between Belarus and Cambodia are based on the traditions of friendship, solidarity and partnership established over the years. Despite the geographical distance, differences in culture, customs and language, and global changes in the world, the relations between our countries have passed the tests of strength and continue to develop fruitfully.

The interaction between the states received a significant impetus in 2014, when Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen paid an official visit to Belarus and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei paid an official visit to Cambodia.

A particular emphasis is put on cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Minsk and Phnom Penh have the necessary potential to expand contacts and implement joint projects in agriculture, medicine, science and education, implementation and exchange of the latest technologies.

The 4th session of the Joint Belarusian-Cambodian Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in November 2024 demonstrated mutual interest in intensifying bilateral ties in various areas of economic activity.

Belarus and Cambodia maintain regular high-level contacts, also at international platforms, especially on electoral and human rights issues. The interaction of the two countries in the UN, ASEAN and other international organizations is constructive and mutually beneficial.
