Participation in the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and screening of a film-dilogy about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War

On 22 June 2025, the Day of national remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and genocide of the Belarusian people, Ambassador of Belarus Uladzimir Baravikou and the staff of the diplomatic mission together with the head and diplomats of the Embassy of Russia and representatives of Vietnamese organisations honoured the memory of millions of Soviet citizens who died during the Great Patriotic War.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Belarus drew attention to the catastrophic damage inflicted on the republic during the war. He emphasised the importance of preserving the historical memory and the truth about the genocide of the Belarusian and other peoples of the former USSR, as well as the decisive contribution of the Soviet people to the victory over fascism so that such a tragedy would never happen again.

Russian Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko and Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Hanoi Vladimir Murashkin spoke at the event.

In memory of all military and civilians who died for freedom and independence of the Motherland, the ceremony participants laid flowers and paid tribute with a minute of silence.

At the end of the mourning ceremony, a ‘Death Camps’ and ‘Burnt Villages’ film-dilogy of the ‘Belarusfilm’ film studio was screened.

On the same day, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou and the staff of the diplomatic mission joined the All-Belarusian minute of silence in remembrance of the trials that the Belarusians and other peoples of the USSR endured during the Great Patriotic War.
