On attending the mourning events on the death of Khamtay Siphandone

On 4 April 2025, on behalf of the Belarusian people and personally, President Aleksandr Lukashenko has expressed condolences to President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, as well as to his family and relatives, to all the people of Laos in connection with the death of the fourth President of the country, Khamtay Siphandone.

«A great political, party and military statesman has passed away», – the Head of state noted. “We will remember Khamtay Siphandone as a leader of a friendly state, who was the head of the People's Revolutionary Party and the Lao Government at the time when diplomatic relations were established between our countries. During his presidency, the first direct contacts between Minsk and Vientiane actually started. ”, – Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised.

On 5 April 2025, during the farewell ceremony at the National Convention Centre of Laos, a wreath was placed in memory of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone on behalf of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The entries in the Book of Condolences were left by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus Uladzimir Baravikou at the Lao Embassy in Hanoi and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Vientiane Yury Kerbo.
