Political Cooperation
The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar were established on September 22, 1999.
The political interaction between the countries is built on the basis of trust and mutual understanding, and continues to develop actively in the interests of both sides.
High-level delegations pay visits.
In December 2011, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich paid an official visit to Myanmar.
The interparliamentary links have been maintained.
In May 2015, a Myanmar parliamentary delegation headed by the Speaker of the House of Nationalities of the Parliament of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Khin Aung Myint paid an official visit to the Republic of Belarus took place.
Interaction between the foreign policy agencies is underway.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar U Win Aung paid an official visit to Belarus in July 2000. In September 2023, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar U Than Swe paid an official visit to Belarus.
In November 2013, Myanmar hosted inter-ministerial consultations at the level of deputy Foreign Ministers.
Belarus and Myanmar maintain interaction at the level of heads of ministries and organizations.
Minister of Migration and Population Affairs of Myanmar U Myint Kyaing visited Belarus on May 2-7, 2023.
Member of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in the rank of Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing took part as a speaker in the international conference Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World (Minsk, October 26-27, 2023).
The treaty-legal base is in the process of formation. It includes 8 interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements.
The interests of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar are represented by the Embassy of Belarus in Hanoi, while the interests of Myanmar are represented by the Embassy of Myanmar in Moscow. Since September 2023, the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has been operating in Minsk.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of July 7, 2022, Mr. Uladzimir Baravikou was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The Ambassador-designate presented his credentials to the Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on October 20, 2022.
The Honorary Consulate of Belarus has been operating in Yangon since 2011. The Honorary Consul is Mr. Aung Moe Myint.
